This section explains the creation of skins for Farcry, the following tools are required for this.
• 3dsmax7
• Adobe Photoshop.
the first thing is to choose the model as skin,i have chosen a gallimimus dinosaur for the tutorial
then you have to add the bones to the skin, in my case it already has bones.
in cryengine1 for the physics of the skins to work correctly, a series of models is necessary in conjunction with the skin.
in the sdk includes a max scene called sdkmerc that includes everything you need.
the next step would be to add the skin modifier to the model, you can use 2 modifiers:
• skin modifier
• physique
what difference is there in using skin modifier and physique?
In all the time that I have created skins, I did not find any difference, the weapons are made skin with skin modifier.
explained the differences, the first thing is to apply the modifier to the model, in this case it will be skin modifier
the bones are imported into the list that you see in the center of the upper image
done this, it would be time to retouch the bones so that when they move the corresponding part moves
done this, it's time for the materials
so that cryengine can represent it, it is necessary to give material to the model, otherwise you will only see invisibility.
bones also need material, otherwise the default is rock
this would be the correct thing in the material ..
finally it only remains to export the model in cgf, To do this, you just have to open the crytek exporter (the sdk includes the plugins to export this format).
When exporting, the physics models have to be present for the death functions to work correctly, otherwise it would be chaos.
this is the result if everything went well.
In the end I will leave a link to a video to show the whole process.
